Biddeford, ME – “Abstract Narratives”
“Abstract Narratives,” a group exhibition of new works by six Maine artists, Meghan Brady, Jessica Davis Buckley, Amanda K. Hawkins, Jonathan Mess, Jean Noon, and Andrea Sulzer, opens March 25, 2016, from 5-7pm at Engine, 128 Main Street in downtown Biddeford. “Abstract Narratives” will show through April 23.
The works are in many cases nature inspired pieces that explore abstract painting narratives with focus on shape, material, and use of color to inform their viewer. Many of the pieces are organized along horizon and vertical lines, which define the direction of the narrative. Other pieces are organically defined, using color and line in organic form to manipulate color and organize their piece. Among the other works there is a sense of randomness both in material and form, which lends a kinetic quality to the work.
Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday 1-6pm and Saturday 11-4pm. For additional information please contact Tammy Ackerman, firstname.lastname@example.org or 207. 370.9130.
