Engine’s Cultural Exchange Teaching Artist will be responsible for the planning, preparation, and execution of a hands-on, participatory art activity for intermediate and middle-school students, predominantly New Mainer students. Printmaking, illustration, painting, and journaling, are some of the areas of interest. Two week days after school in the Biddeford Schools and one Saturday session at Engine will be scheduled. The Teaching Artist will work alongside UNE’s Nutrition Program students and Culinary Docs to pair healthy food and art as a vehicle for cultural exchange.
Position begins as soon as possible.
Stipend for this contract position is $4000 for 162 program hours. No other benefits.
The Cultural Exchange Program Teaching Artist is an independent subcontractor position without benefits.
The Teaching Artist must have previous relevant experience with youth and the ability to interact and communicate effectively with all program partners and Engine senior staff and interns.
Knowledge and Education
- Art-making and engagement background required.
- A degree in Studio Art and/or Masters of Art Teaching is not necessarily required but preferred.
- Photography and videography skills are a plus.
