STORIES SURROUND US
Maine Street USA is a showcase of documentaries produced by Maine filmmakers between January and May 2021.
Born out of a desire to to foster community and creative collaboration, Maine Street USA put out an call this past winter for local documentaries and was met with enthusiasm and energy from storytellers across the state. The showcase will tour across Maine in summer 2021 and feature films from local filmmakers that “document the myriad ways life is lived” in the Pinetree state.
From Alexandra Morrow, the force behind this project, “Back in January I put out a call for filmmakers across Maine to create short non-fiction films 1-5 minutes in length that would tour across the state in warmer months. At the time, I remember thinking…. “oh wouldn’t it be great if 10 filmmakers made something?”
Well, nearly 5-months later and over 40 filmmakers have created 30+ films and more than 2.5-hours of content. On Thursday September 23 at 7PM those films will be screened from atop Biddeford’s new parking garage. I’m so proud of this community for showing up and excited for everyone to come together and celebrate the storytelling talent that exists in this state.”
The event is FREE, accessible, and open to the public thanks to Engine and the Maine Outdoor Film Festival folks.
