A few weeks ago I got to experience one of the reasons I moved here to propel this creative community: Fringe Fest and River Jam! Y’all close the streets and turn our public spaces into a world full of fire dancers, light projection art, music, painting, weaving, pottery, film, photography, poetry and more. I loved having a table in the open air right on Main Street to pull up a chair, share a pie with our neighbors, and delight in all the excitement of the community.
I hope you’ll join us again tomorrow during September’s ArtWalk — Friday September 17th from 5:30-7:30PM — for the Opening Reception of GESTALT, a film photography exhibition. The event is free and open to the public and will feature a special performance by Arcuates (unplugged) from 5:30-6:30PM. Our friends over at Banded Brewing were kind enough to donate some of their delicious craft beer for the occasion!!! We’ll also have some tasty treats from Nibblesford, the new local cheese shop in town.
Next Thursday, September 23, we are partnering with Maine Street USA, Maine Outdoor Film Festival, and Heart of Biddeford to screen a series of short films made by Maine filmmakers outdoors in Biddeford for the first time on the top of the new city parking garage!
Our team is also back in the shop at the Biddeford High School to teach our Compass Boat Building Program, and our artist, maker, and creative entrepreneurs are buzzing in our studios to prepare for ArtFeed, a free community critique and potluck night.
