Cultural Exchange Box Program

Free for youth grades 2-12

Our cultural exchange program is intended to build community connections through shared cultural experiences. Participants will receive a box of ingredients to make a simple snack, an art prompt or lesson designed by our teaching artists, and a wire-bound journal to keep their work as a record of our times.

DEADLINE TO SIGNUP: April 10, end-of-day. We will determine if this program will run depending on minimum number of registrants.

ELIGIBILITY: This program is meant to serve low-to-moderate income (LMI) participants. An easy way to know if you and your child qualify is if you qualify for MaineCare. The program is funded through a Biddeford Community Development Block Grant (HUD). The program has strict income requirements for participation and is limited to 20 participants (51% of participants must meet income rules).

TO REGISTER:

REQUIRED INFORMATION: We need two things from participants:

  1. PARTICIPANT AND PARENT/GUARDIAN INFO:
    • Participant name, grade of participant
    • Parent/guardian name, phone number, email address.
  2. INCOME SURVEY: The head of household of the participant MUST provide an income survey. Download at this link below:

HOW TO RETURN THE REQUIRED INFORMATION AND FORM:

  • Print and sign the Income Survey.*
  • Take a clear, legible cellphone photo of the Income Survey.
  • Email the required participant information to us at director@feedtheengine.org
  • Or, text to 207-229-3560.

*NO ACCESS TO A PRINTER? If you aren’t able to print the form to sign, we would be happy to mail a form to you directly with a stamped, self-addressed envelope for you to mail back. Email us with your info.

A program exploring art making and food to create and deepen community connections. Open to Biddeford residents only.

LOCATION: Alternative Pathways Center at 73 Bacon Street Biddeford (corner of Sullivan and Bacon, next to the former St. Andres Church)

EVERY WEDNESDAY after April 27 through June 30.
HOURS: 3:00pm-5:00pm / NO COST
Participants must fill out an income survey required by HUD.

APRIL VACATION / AGES 8+

Participants will bring their big imaginations, an interest in theatre, and a love to create and make to our April Vacation Puppet Week. We’ll explore all things puppets and make one or more of our very own. Over the course of the week, instructor Courtney Wood will help each participant craft a story and fabricate their very own puppets to star in their own original puppet play! Puppet Week is a week full of play, learning, making, exploration, and creativity.

$225 week (early Bird Discount $200 by March 15).

Another fun and creative vacation camp for April Vacation is awaiting. Each day will feature a variety of activities to challenge your youngster to think outside the box…or use one to build a cardboard city.

$225 week (early Bird Discount $200 by March 15).
