Plant one on me!

Plant one on me!

A community art project with Subcircle artists in residence Rachel Zollinger and Jean Brennan Engine is excited to support this community art project in collaboration with subcircle artists-in-residence- interdisciplinary artists Rachel Zollinger (Arizona) and Jean Brennan (Beacon, NY).

You are invited to participate!

Rachel and Jean have created a participatory zine (art workbook), Plant One On Me, that aims to investigate notions of belonging, community, and reciprocity through the lens of plant/human relationships. It prompts participates to choose a plant (as a kind of kinfolk, friend, or adversary) and describe through writing and drawing their relationship to the plant.

Zines are available for pick up at:

Time and Tide
Sweetcream Dairy
MacArthur Library
Oceanview Properties (Biddeford Pool)
Engine
Trillium
New Morning Natural Foods
Gypsy Soil
Jackrabbit

The artists will host an open house at Engine on August 5th with an installation of participants’ zines, alongside their own plant research (specimens, color studies, stories). People will be invited to talk about their plants as Rachel and Jean share their framework and process informally with the community.

Once completed, please drop off your zine in the dropbox made by Engine studio artist Sean Hasey located outside of Engine at 163 Main Street in Biddeford. DEADLINE to drop your completed zine is Tuesday, August 3rd.

We hope you’ll enjoy participating in this project – both by picking up a copy of the zine and attending the event in August. We’ll send you an invitation with more details soon.
