Dear Engine enthusiasts and supporters,
As the evenings grow shorter, we continue to warm up the Engine, fueled by your creativity and inspiration! We have a lot to be grateful for as we come to the end of this challenging year, reflecting on the past, while visioning for connection through art, design, and education.
Two new gallery exhibitions open Friday December 3 from 5-9PM, In the Dirt in our Main Gallery, and a solo exhibition by bobby T farell in Engine’s new Gallery 2 at 163 Main Street. For your handmade gift needs, we’re hosting Maker’s Market on during our opening receptions, extending into Saturday December 4 from 12-4pm. We are thrilled to host this in concert with Heart of Biddeford’s Downtown Holiday Festival!
Meanwhile, the kiosk at 60 Washington is buzzing with the opening of Color Sound Oblivion, a new record store, and we are preparing to launch our IGNITE creative entrepenership incubator. Thanks to the U.S. Economic Development Administration, the Maine Community Foundation, and Engine founder Tammy Ackerman’s leadership and fundraising, we have grant support to fund a pilot cohort of 3-5 creative businesses. More on that, including the application link, soon!
Next week is Giving Tuesday, and that will kick off our annual appeal campaign, asking folks to help fund our continued work in this community. Grants and fees for our services only cover a portion of our operating costs, and there are many ways to give to support our mission. Engine runs on your generosity, and we are so grateful!
Looking forward to seeing you downtown soon,
