Climate [In] Action

January 20 – March 8 2022

Opening and Interactive Workshop: Saturday February 19, 3-5PM*

Extended through March 8!

Jill Pelto is an artist and scientist whose work focuses on communicating human-environment connections. By incorporating scientific research and data into watercolor paintings, she weaves visual narratives that reveal the benefits and costs of human impacts on this planet. Jill is based in South Portland, Maine, and has community ties to Biddeford from her work as a barista at Elements since 2019.

Jill will be showing her work at Engine from January 20th – March 8th, 2022. She will be hosting a reception and workshop in collaboration with Engine and Biddeford’s Climate Task Force on Saturday February 19th from 3-5PM. *Please note this is rescheduled from the original date of February 4th.

Come to see Jill’s climate art, participate in engaging with local climate change topics, and learn what the Climate Task Force is working towards. Available activities include creating your own data-art and sharing your emotional responses to the art via a Word Cloud.

This event is open to all ages, Jill works with K-12 students locally with her data-art activity. Masking and proof of vaccination required to attend.
